Cakes

I have not been making or decorating many cakes lately, my young niece and nephew have moved to a different state, and my circle of friends have no little ones who require a cake. However I did make two cakes at the beginning of this year, they were for my 'grand daughters' who are not really my granddaughters but daughters of a beautiful young lady who is my friends daughter. I think of her as a daughter and her girls as my granddaughters, and I do receive a 'Nanna', now and then from them but I receive so much love and more from them.
This is the youngest ones cake, she was 9 this year.It is a giant cupcake, pink tones of course, she is still that kind of little girl :)
The eldest was 13, so she got a giant cookie cake with ice cream filling, no pink in site, she is not that kind of girl lol.

Sock monster

I I found a pattern for an Adipose, a creature from a Dr Who series, it was made out of felt but I thought why not socks, why not indeed :) this is the link  http://crafts.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-make-an-adipose-plush-toy-from-doctor-who--craft-1558

I used a pair of men's crewel sock, two dolls eyes, and used the mouth, arms and feet from the pattern on the link.
I gave him a dent where I wanted his eyes to be, carefully poked a hole close to stitches and added the eyes.
I added the eyes before I ladder stitched his bottom closed, and after I cut away the excess sock, which was the heel and top part. Cut out his hands and feet from the other sock, using the pattern from the link, his mouth from felt, which I glue on, and in no time a all a Adipose was born.
He will be a great gift for my nephew who is a Dr Who

fan.
