Play food

I thought I would try making 'sponge cakes' with sponges and caulk,  an idea I seen on Pinterest, (how I love that site) This is the link to the original 'sponge', although I didn't follow it exactly but it sparked an idea http://www.sheknows.com/living/articles/965787/diy-cake-postcard-tutorial

They were quick to make apart from letting the caulk dry, but some sponges just didn't adhere to well to the caulk or the other way around, so I spent ages easing them fully apart and got out my trusty hot glue gun and re stuck them. I don't think they will handle a lot of play before they fall apart. They were sent to my beautiful niece and nephew, who will enjoy them and have wonderful pretend play with them.
I did get some strange looks packing them into the postage box at the post office lol.

Update...28/05/2015.....the sponge cakes are still being played with and there has been some little separation but nothing major..although they are very expensive to buy at the "Pop Up Coffee and Cake Shop" run by my niece and nephew :)

Felt food

I love making felt food, cupcakes being my favourite.
Two chocolate cupcakes with fancy icing!
Now they sit proudly in my china cabinet till I decide what to do with them.
A felt sandwich, lettuce, ham slice, tomato, egg slices, cucumber, and cheese.
Hungry anyone?

A long time between blogs :)

Even though I have not been blogging I have been quite busy crafting and stitching, felt food, play play, sock monkeys, kids dresses, pillow beds, the list goes on......

Here are a dozen fabric cookies I 'baked' today. Not felt because I wanted something washable and softer for younger children. These are going to my daughters room at an early childhood centre, all three of my girls are educators there, two working in the same room :). Hope they are tasty.
